n January of 1998, Peggy and Greg confronted one of life’s great challenges. On the 30th anniversary of her Olympic gold
medal in Grenoble, France, Peggy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Faced with what she called "another Olympics, a life
Olympics," Peggy decided to share her experience with the public to offer encouragement to other women and their families.
Promoting breast cancer awareness has become extremely important to Peggy, and her appearances on "20/20", "Oprah", and
"The Rosie O'Donnell Show" have given hope to millions of cancer patients.
As a physician, Greg’s career has been devoted to helping people to enhance their health and well being. Today, Greg
and Peggy’s interests remain focused on health issues as well as fitness. Balance, they both feel, is the key to living
a vital and satisfying life. Toward that end Peggy has served as honorary chairman for Easter Seals and the PTA. She also
served as the National spokesperson for the National Osteoporosis Foundation. And she and Greg have become active
fundraisers for a variety of organizations that help people in life threatening circumstances, including Peggy serving on
the Board of Directors for the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
